The Central Drugs Standard Control Organisation (CDSCO) on September 08, 2026, has issued a public health alert regarding certain unauthorised cosmetic products, including “Goree Beauty Cream” and “Chandni Whitening Cream,” which have not been issued registration certificates for import and sale in India. Test and analysis conducted by CDSCO found that these products contain excessive heavy metals beyond specified limits, which may pose health risks, including toxic effects.
Consumers have been advised not to purchase or use the identified products or similarly named products. Manufacturers, importers, sellers, distributors and advertisers have been warned against dealing in such products. Consumers should purchase only authorised cosmetics bearing required details such as the manufacturing licence number, manufacturer details, batch number, manufacturing and expiry dates, and registration number for imported cosmetics. Regulatory enforcement units have been directed to ensure that such unauthorised cosmetics are not sold within their jurisdictions.
